Winter Walk to School Day: Feb. 4, 2015

Wednesday, February 4th, will be the date of our Winter Walk to School day. We had excellent participation this past October when we joined in the International Walk to School Day , iWalk. Many of our students and their families participated through walking, cycling or taking the bus (mass transit). 

All students who are able are encouraged to walk to school on Wednesday, February 4th. If you typically drive your child to school, consider choosing a drop-off point several streets away where your child may join other friends who walk everyday. We hope that you will take this opportunity to meet your Woodroffe neighbours and look for ways to collaborate in making walking to school part of your child's daily fitness routine. 

Could a group of students walk together? Could adult family members share the walk on a rotating basis? What a great way to develop walking as a healthy habit!

Looking for Skates

We are looking for new or slightly used hockey skates to add to our loaner collection. We need all sizes, but would appreciate a few larger sizes.

Many thanks for your help! Drop off any donated skates in the main office.

Online Registration Form

You now have the opportunity to complete the Application for Admission to Elementary School on-line.  You can access this on-line form and instructions at: http://www.ocdsb.ca/programs/ki/Pages/registration.aspx. 

 

If you choose the on-line format, you must complete the form, print a copy and bring it along to the school during registration week, along with the other necessary documents, i.e., proof of address, birth certificate, immunization, etc.

Woodroffe Ave PS - Kindergarten OPEN HOUSE

We will be hosting a Kindergarten OPEN HOUSE next week from Jan 19 - 23! Please click on the following link to book a time to visit.

Each session lasts for 20 mins. Visitors will be guided by student ambassadors through two classrooms, a Junior Kindergarten class and a Senior Kindergarten class. 

A maximum of 2 families will be visiting any one classroom at the same time.

Please register in the main foyer a few minutes before your scheduled visit.

School Entry Points

Please note the following changes to the entry points into the school yard:

1.  Kindergarten - no changes

2.  Grades 1 to 6 -

• Kindergarten Gate Entry Point - closed to all Grade 1 to 6 students.  All students who usually enter the main school yard via the Kindergarten gate must now use the front door of the school. They will head out to the courtyard via the main hallway past the gyms.
• Lockhart Gate Entry Point - no changes
• Parking Lot Gate Entry Point - no changes
• All bus students will now enter via the main front door.

Welcome Back!

Dear Woodroffe Parents,

We hope that you have all enjoyed very relaxing and rejuvenating holidays with friends and family. 

We are happy to introduce Kevin O'Rourke, the Site Supervisor from Fuller Construction. He will be our key contact person throughout the building of the addition to the school over the next few months.
