REMINDER

Our annual Holiday Sing-Along will take place tomorrow the last day before the holidays, Friday, December 19. 
There will be a session for the Junior Kindergarten, Grades 1, 3, and 5 classes from approximately 9:30 to 10:00 AM in Gym 1. 
The second session for Senior

Kindergarten, Grades 2, 4 and 6 classes will take place from approximately 2:00 to 2:30 PM in Gym 1. Family members joining us are invited to bring a non-perishable item for the Food Bank. Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!

​Grade 5 Plays - for Holiday Hampers

Our very talented Gr 5 students will be presenting a play again tomorrow, December 16th at 11:30 a.m.
to 
​the students in Gr 3 - Gr 6 to ​
raise money for our Holiday Hampers.  Please send a toonie to school with your child. The Gr 1 classes will also be singing some Holiday songs. 

The boys and girls in all of the classes from JK to Grade 2 attended the play today. If they did not bring a toonie today, please encourage them to do so tomorrow.

Annual Grandparents Reading Day

We are hosting our annual Grandparents Reading Day tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We will be welcoming 175 grandparents who will be reading in the classrooms from JK to Grade 6. 

Our grandparents will be reading in classrooms in both English and French to small groups of students. Students ambassadors guide our special guests to their reading locations. Lunch will be served to the grandparents courtesy of staff and parent volunteers. Student musicians from our Grade 5 classes will be providing entertainment during the lunch. 

This is a wonderful community event which our families look forward to each year. Some of our grandparents travel long distances to attend.

MOVIE NIGHT
Woodroffe Avenue Public School Council will be hosting another movie night with ARTHUR CHRISTMAS tomorrow, Friday, November 28th from 6:30 – 8:30pm in the school gym. Bring your kids in their pyjamas for a fun-filled evening! See the Council website for details.

You will receive up to one email notification per day, but only on the days in which new information has been added.  This email will be delivered between 3 and 5 pm.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

We are happy to welcome families this evening and tomorrow morning for parent teacher interviews. A solid home-school connection has an incredibly positive impact on your child's education and these meetings a provide wonderful opportunity to align our thinking and expectations. We are looking forward to sitting down with you to share your child's strengths and deciding on next steps.

While you are at the school, please take a few minutes to check out our "Lost and Found" display.  We have many, many unclaimed items displayed near the front entrance of the school.

Class 3C will be selling "compost bin liners" as part of a fundraising campaign. 

I encourage families to stop by the main office to chat with me or to Mme Monik.

Progress Reports & Parent Teacher Interviews

Progress Reports will be coming home this Thursday, November 13th.
 
Please look for your child's report in his or her school bag. Along with the report, you will find a letter with an invitation to a parent-teacher interview. Please return the interview confirmation tear-off to your child's teacher no later than November 18th.

Interviews will be held on Thursday, November 20th in the evening and Friday, November 21st in the morning.

Please note that there is NO SCHOOL for students on Friday, November 21st.

SK Curriculum Night for SK Parents

The SK teachers will be hosting a presentation of the curriculum and Full Day Kindergarten program for students attending SK this year on Thursday, November 13th from 6:30pm to 7pm in the library.  You will hear about Inquiry Based learning, and the Kindergarten curriculum. There will be some time to ask questions and visit the classrooms.


We ask that parents only attend this evening.

Remembrance Day Assembly

Dear Woodroffe Parents,
Next Tuesday November 11th, our students will take part in our yearly Remembrance Day assembly. We would like to extend an invitation to all our parents currently serving in the Canadian Armed Forces to join our assembly at school. This will take place in our gymnasium from 10:30 a.m. to 10:55 a.m

Halloween Activities

There are many exciting activities happening at Woodroffe tomorrow, Friday, October 31st. There is a parade in the morning for our Kindergarten students. Starting at noon, our School Council will be hosting a dance and a movie for our Primary and Junior students. Mme Monik and our Grade 5 students have prepared an amazing Haunted House which the students will be visiting throughout the day.
Student who do not wish to participate in these activities will be supervised in the library.
 
Popcorn will be served by our School Council during the movie. Please note that the popcorn being served is peanut free.

Please do not forget to bring non-perishable food for our Halloween Food Drive! We have begun to collect food already, but we need much for to reach our goal! All of the food will go to the Ottawa Food Bank.
